Please have a look at the message from the Police Department pasted below...

This morning at approximately 3:45 a.m., an unknown suspect entered an apartment in the 3300 blk of Lancer Drive through an open window to the rear of the apartment. The suspect demanded money from the victim, and then forcibly raped her. The suspect covered the victim's face with a towel so that she would not get a good look at him, but she did describe the suspect as a black male, about 5-04 to 5-06 in height wearing all dark clothes. No weapon was seen. The suspect gained entry by pulling apart the screen and then lifting the window to this ground level apartment. 

Less than an hour and a half before this incident, units responded to an attempt burglary in the 5600 blk of Queens Chapel Road. In this case, the suspect pulled the screen off the frame, and then opened the window of this ground level apartment. He was peeking through the blinds when the resident startled the suspect who then fled. The windows involved in these incidents are just across the street from each other. 

Residents are urged to lock their doors and windows at night, especially those located at ground level. If you have any information which may assist in the investigation of these cases, please contact the Hyattsville City Police Department at 301-985-5060.
