How did the river's water quality fare in 2011? And are local governments doing 
enough to push the restoration forward?
Find out this Wednesday when AWS releases the annual State of the Anacostia River
report card. Join us for a press conference at 1 pm at Bladensburg Waterfront Park
-- attendees receive a copy of the report and one of our Earth Day Cleanup t-shirts
(be the first on your block to sport one!). Media are then invited to take a short
boat tour of the river.

AWS Lecture Series: How to Compost with Eco City Farms
Composting is a great way to reuse kitchen scraps and rejuvenate your garden at 
the same time. Join us for our April lecture to learn more about keeping a compost

Anacostia Ale Release & AWS Fundraiser

in Hyattsville creates several new brews. This month they are tapping the new Anacostia
Ale, an amber ale brewed in the spirit of AWS. The brewmaster describes is as "medium-bodied
with an upfront bitterness that leads to a toasted malt finish." Sounds great to
 us!

Join us April 16 for a fundraiser and celebration of the new beer. AWS staff will
be on hand all day, so come by the loft and say hello. You can even enter a raffle
to win artwork by local artists Denise Brown and Carol Hurwitch. Mention AWS to 
your server and we receive a portion of your receipt!

On Saturday, April 21, more than 2,000 volunteers will descend upon 40+ sites in
 the watershed to clean up trash that has been collecting all winter--and oftentimes

>From 9 to 11:30 am, be prepared to get dirty as we remove trash and debris from

like DC Councilmember Tommy Wells will inspire the crowd.
