Join Us at the First Annual Bostwick May Festival
Sunday, May 6, 1-4pm
Admission is Free
48th Street, Bladensburg, MD
Take a step back in time to the eve of the War of 1812 with 1800's music, children's games, farm animals, 1800s trade and craft demonstrations, food, and heirloom plant and craft sale. Browse the May Basket competition entries, take a springtime walk and let the kids play! (We have secured the Piscataway Tribe to be there - dancing and providing music as well!)
(Bostwick House and Gardens was the home of Christopher Lowndes, a Bladensburg merchant. The home was later owned by Benjamin Stoddart, first Secretary of the Navy. The home, now owned by the Town of Bladensburg, suffered earthquake damage and is currently closed to the public. During the festival there will be walking tours of the grounds and exploration of the history and architecture. A special walking tour of the impact of the War of 1812 on the property will occur at 2:30 pm. Exhibits about the building and the War of 1812 commemoration will be onsite. The building and grounds are a unique historical open space within the community and this is a great chance to see the site.)
