*Doll Club Needs Help From Guys & Dolls *

A whirlwind of War of 1812 observations, celebrations and events will soon
sweep the immediate area. Locally based regional organizations such as the
Anacostia Trails Heritage Association and the Anacostia Watershed Society
have begun marking the 200th anniversary of Britain’s two-year-long effort
to take back the United States as an English entity. Nearly two-dozen
children, members of the Doll Club, which is sponsored by the Riverdale
Park Arts Council, have been busily sewing period doll clothes and
accessories and making their own costumes to wear at upcoming reenactment
events. Adults are needed to teach sewing techniques, and to assist youth
teachers.

Sewing classes are held Mondays, 2:30 to 4:30 pm at *Aunt Emily’s Doll
Hospital/Doll Shop*, 6220 Rhode Island Avenue, Riverdale Park; Thursdays 5
to 7 pm at the adjacent Riverdale Park Farmer’s Market in Town Center; and
Wednesdays, 5 to 7 pm at Park Tanglewood Apartments, 5309 Riverdale Road.

Adults, insured and licensed to drive in Maryland are also needed to
carpool the youngsters to and from classes, and roundtrip to events and to
occasionally serve as chaperones. If you have time to make an important,
and welcomed investment in the community, please contact RPAC president
Emily Fanning at 301-864-5561, or email her at OurDollMom at aol.com.
