[RP TownTalk] Cafritz Vote

Very true, But the public was either not allowed to speak or when they spoke they were told thank you for your opinion, and then the council would vote unanimously as they seemed to have agreed upon before the meeting.  no considering any public opinion, facts or any thing  that was contrary to there will.
I in fact was told, It's going to happen , so just accept it.
This happens on all issues with this current town council. The asking for input from citizens is a  formality that is in the town charter, there for must be followed. weighing that input is never taken into consideration by the council if it differs from the Mayor and town councils will.
The Cafritz development should have been a referendum, something the entire town voted on, not something the town council made decisions about behind closed doors.

There were numerous public meetings to discuss the development proposal. Invitations were posted on this list serve, as well as the town website, in the town newsletter and there was even at least one letter from our mayor mailed to every household with a specific request for attendance at a public meeting.  Local newspapers covered the public proceedings.

This seems so strange to me because every thing I ever heard from MUTC  council and the town council was that they were all for the development, closed sessions where the public was not allowed to be involved or express opinions even family members of town council and MUTC members all for the development.
What exactly is going on here?

I will confirm Jonathan's statement below that this project was never (and still is not) a "done deal." I came to at least one council meeting in early January with a pre-written letter recommending denial of the rezoning.  We had very long, intense negotiations, and I voted for it because the final package had everything I thought the Town needed, and a lot of things we wanted.
