Mr. Thompson,
Thank you for your reply. Guess this is just what we now have to live with although, when the Field of Dreams was first opened, years ago, we were assured that anyone using the field would be required to park in Erco. If they didn't they would loose the use of the field. Guess those rules have now been changed.
In regards to the reason cars were parked on 48th Avenue, I don't believe the UMD signs had anything to do with it as I regularly see that many cars on 48th Avenue as well as cars on Tuckerman Street on the same side as the field, where there are no parking signs.
Can't imagine what our streets will all look like when the Cafritz property is developed.

Peggy,
Very often I drive along that section of 48th between 11am and 1pm, and this looks worse than usual (I didn't drive there yesterday) - I suspect that's because of the new signs at the parking lot north of the field. As Mayor Archer said in an earlier post, the Town has complained about this and the signs are going to be changed back.
That being said, there are no parking restrictions on 48th Avenue. The 4700 block of Tuckerman, alongside the field, is permit parking on the south side and no parking on the north side, and it is that block where warnings and/or tickets are to be issued. Because 48th Avenue has no restrictions, there is no legal basis to issue warnings or tickets. The residents with property on 48th have not asked for parking restrictions. If you are having problems with parking in front of your house, and want parking restrictions, please feel free to contact me.
Regards,
Alan Thompson

Attached are photos of 48th Avenue on Sunday at about noon, when there was a game being played on the Field of Dreams. Even though Erco parking lot is where they are supposed to park they use the side streets and park all over. I've also included on of father carrying is son back to their van which is parked on Somerset Road at the corner of 48th Avenue. Didn't take an pictures of Tuckerman Street although there were lots of cars parked there also.
Thought that these cars were to be warned and/or ticketed for parking on side streets instead of Erco. This is not just because UMD has changed the signs on the parking lot. This goes on every time the field is in use.
Thanks.
Peggy
