Hello everyone and Happy Holidays,

We have been busy getting ready for our big 200th Commemoration of the War of 1812 in Prince Georges County. We have many things planned (new event calendar will be released in early January) and hope you schedule coming out to them.

Our first program is on May 4 at Bostwick. We are currently seeking vendors who specialize in "heritage" style materials - wood carving, weaving, wooden toys, specialized food, etc. if you do this type of work or know someone, please drop me a line at aaron at anacostiatrails.org.

We are also looking for about 10 volunteers for day of support - tables/tents, visitor help, etc. We would love to have your help! (Great idea for scout troops too!) Same email or call 301-887-0777.

Same song, different verse. Our August 23 program is bigger and better. At waterfront park we will fight the battle of Bladensburg, are looking for 15-20 heritage trade craft vendors, and will have over 50 different info booths. We will have music, demonstrations, and a big fireworks program that evening. There will be programs at Magruder and Bostwick and a farmers market next to the Mango Cafe. We even hope to have a food truck rally. And we need volunteers! Lots of volunteers! We estimate that we will need 30-75 volunteers for the day in shifts. This will include bus coordination, parking, traffic, parade, info, trash, and so much more.

Drop me a line if you are interested. We may be coordinating the volunteers through Park and Rec, but I'll start the list now. We would love your help either as a volunteer or as someone who can connect us with heritage vendors. (FYI - we may be open to local artists of the non-heritage stripe, but we need to get the holes plugged first.

I will note, finally, that if you are a local business or organization and would like more info or to donate toward the cause, you can contact me. I speak often and can provide sponsorship opportunities. We are a non profit with all tax benefits.

Many, many thanks!
