Bruce -
I have considered it. Please go back over my previous comments. This issue is not just one about housing - it has many other considerations, some of which I listed out in prior posts.
Additionally, go through an insurance claim as I did and you will understand only too well the scope and magnitude of the problem once you deal with insurance companies who also define areas by zip codes in determining 'fair market value' and other issues. The town changing its name did much towards the desired impact. Very clearly, there is a housing price differential between RP and Riverdale and for good reason. Any resident when calling the police will typically receive a response time in <2 minutes from the RP Police department; the response times for PG County can be 45 minutes or greater especially for calls that are not life-threatening.
My point was and continues to be, this has far reaching impacts beyond a simplistic housing argument and takes political will more so than any expenditure of tax dollars to accomplish. It will not change overnight but neither did the delineation of RP vs. Riverdale. RP has some very clear opportunities to market itself and its brand to the DMV area as we begin to realize the goals of our vision statement and direction that you and countless other volunteers put into place over a decade ago.
Best,
Jonathan
