Hi Bruce - 55 yrs ago when I purchased the house-
a long time prior- there was a 100 yr old tree that
died and the roots went deep down under the house.
When I found out about this tree, that is when I got
termite inspection but I did not have any. but I kept
this termite company who guarantees that I will have
no termites or they will get rid of them for free for me
but not pay for any house damage. they come every
year faithfully and no termites in 55 yrs.

Not very long after that I had flying ants but they
took are of them too.

it is true that we have clay, gravel also as if the stream
bed came up to my back door at one time Also the
train shakes my house sometimes when I am sleeping.
And it is true that in the old days the water table would
rise under the house & come up through the wood
beams supporting the first floor hooked into the floor
basement cement. I hope this is not serious now. And
of course my house really shook during the last earth
quake. I heard the plaster rattling around between
the ceilings - old plaster vs new sheet rock ceilings.
The house is very sturdy and strong. Well made by
hand. I think they made it w/o using a ruler. hahahah.
