[RP TownTalk] Having a Town Meeting Re Police & Residents Relations?

Hi Mary (& TownTalk),
As Alison Spain said in her note, I think that our Police Department works
to engage with the community in a lot of ways - National Night Out, the
Public Safety walks that happen several times a year (each covers one
ward), and the "Five-Oh" program that encourages officers to directly
engage with residents in a more social way (not in an information-gathering
or enforcement context).
All of that being said, there's always room for improvement, and I'm
positive that Chief Morris is open to ideas on how to do that.
There is a Town Council work session this evening (8 pm at 5008 Queensbury
Road), and I encourage you to attend and speak to us about your concerns
(next Tuesday is a legislative session, same time and place, where you are
welcome to speak as well). Chief Morris is almost certain to be at both
meetings, and Lt. Colonel Timmons will be there in his place if for some
reason he is unavailable. Whether or not you can make it, I will let both
Chief Morris, Mayor Archer, and Public Safety Committee Chair David Lingua
know about your thoughts and ideas.
I hope to meet you tonight, but will let you know what feedback I get
whether or not that happens!
Best regards,
Alan K. Thompson
Ward 2 Town Council Representative
