CONSTRUCTION UPDATE NOTICE
Weeks of: December 15, 2014 and December 22, 2014
What to Expect On-Site the Next Two Weeks:
During the next two weeks of work, the General Contractor, L.F. Jennings,
will continue construction of the Whole Foods Market and continue with site
utility work.
They will also continue removal and haul-off of excess soil and rubble. This
will include work along the Route 1 buffer area.
The installation of the retaining walls along both the Northern & Southern
property lines will continue.
Rte. 1:
The storm water outfall piping work in Rte. 1 will commence soon - no work
will be taking place on this within University Park roads before a permit is
issued and notice provided to the neighborhood.
Dust Control Measures:
We have incorporated several measures to help control dust. We have a
trailer on-site with sprinkler heads that sprinkle water on the areas where
trucks are traversing. This generally keeps the dust down. During long
periods without rain we are utilizing a large tanker truck that will also
sprinkle the site. Areas where no immediate activity is planned have been
covered with straw to keep the dust down. Areas without scheduled activity
in the near future have been seeded so that grass can grow and stabilize the
earth so it does not contribute to the dust.
We have also incorporated some new measures to control dust on the streets.
First, we have extended the gravel at the construction entrances, well
beyond the County/State requirements, to reduce the opportunity for mud to
be tracked onto the adjacent streets. Second, prior to street sweeping we
are watering the road to keep the street sweeper from stirring up dust. We
will continue to monitor these efforts and make any necessary changes to
keep the dust down. Understand that water cannot be used on roadways for
cleaning purposes when the temperatures are near freezing.
Lane Closures:
As the work of installing the new storm line under Route 1 is being
performed, there will be a work area established in Route 1 that will close
off three lanes during non-rush hours. The three lanes of Route 1 (two
northbound lanes and the center turn lane) will be closed periodically
between the hours of 9am to 3pm to allow for the installation of the storm
water pipe. Traffic will be diverted to a single southbound lane and a
single northbound lane utilizes the lanes on the far west side of Route 1.
The work plan has been approved by the State and all safety measures
required by the State will be implemented.
Future Plans:
. One to two month look-ahead -
o Continue all of the above work but start an additional building to provide
new retail to the area.
o Start utility infrastructure throughout the east side of the site
. Two to six month look-ahead -
o Start additional retail buildings
o Start installation of a traffic signal at Van Buren St. & Rt.1
o Advance actual construction of the CSX Crossing
o Advance construction of the Hiker/Biker Trail
. Six to twelve month look-ahead -
o Start interior fit-out of Whole Foods
o Finish widening of widening of Route 1
o Opening of Gateway Park
Work Hours:
Work activity will be taking place Monday - Sunday between the hours of 7
a.m. and 7 p.m. However, work on the State road will be restricted to 9:00am
to 3:00pm during weekdays.
