*2014 Summer Concerts at Town Center Market Begin Tonight!*

*RIVERDALE PARK, MD. July 17, 2014* – LeDroit Chamber Players featuring oboist
*Alison Lowell* and guitarist *Benjamin Altman* open the *2014 Summer Patio
Concerts* series at 7 this evening at Town Center Market in downtown
Riverdale Park. The one hour live performance will feature works by
composers such as Paganini, Françaix and Coste. The free, one-hour concert
marks the beginning of the Riverdale Park Arts Council’s second annual
10-week music series on the patio that features young artists performing a
variety of musical genres. The shows will be held each Thursday at 7 pm
following the Riverdale Park Farmers Market.

“This concert series gives University of Maryland School of Music students
the experience of performing live in an outdoor venue while the community
enjoys talented and up-and-coming young artists in a wonderful and relaxed
environment,” said professor *Robert DiLutis*, Chairman of the Clarinet
Department. The Riverdale Park resident added, “We are delighted to present
another season of amazing entertainment to the area’s growing cultural
calendar.”

LeDroit Chamber Players takes its name from the neighborhood in Washington,
DC, inspired by the town's artistic lineage, iconic architecture and
important historic past. Lowell is a passionate arts advocate. As Principal
Oboist of the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa, she
premiered new works at the National Arts Festival, Classic FM Johannesburg,
the Unyazi Electronic Music Festival and performed the Strauss Oboe
Concerto as a featured soloist. In 2009, she received the prestigious
“Investing in Artists Grant” from the Center for Cultural Innovation for an
extended-range oboe. She is currently pursing a doctorate at the University
of Maryland.

Altman relies on robust techniques and makes the music both sound and
appear effortless. He is an active concertizer, chamber musician, and
concerto soloist. Recent performances include concerts with the Colorado
Guitar Quartet, the trio Magpie, the 'Fresh City Life" series at the Denver
Public Library, and Joaquin Rodrigo's famous *Concierto de Aranjuez* with
the Macon Symphony Orchestra. Altman earned the degree of Doctor of Musical
Arts at the Eastman School of Music and studied previously at the Peabody
Institute and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Town Center Market offers craft beer “Pint Night” discounts, bottled beer
and fine wine tastings during the concert series. Concert-goers are
encouraged to purchase dinners at the Farmers Market or order from the
Dumm’s Pizza & Subs menu.

The patio concert series runs through mid-September. In case of inclement
weather, concerts will be held inside Town Center Market at 4705 Queensbury
Rd., Riverdale Park.

*2014 Summer Patio Concerts* series at Town Center Market is a presentation
of the Riverdale Park Arts Council and University of Maryland School of
Music Clarinet Chairman professor Robert DiLutis. For additional
