[RP TownTalk] Park on Lafayette and Tuckerman

OK, I was just wondering.  I didn't see my message posted to my email the other day so I figured I would just resend it.
The park has a sign that it is under repair and is blocked off.  I completely understand that it should be blocked off if people are leaving it a mess.  I suppose that is a risk with any park that lots of people want to use.  I think banning the use of the park is a little extreme.  Is there a potential solution to the trash/net problem or has Riverdale just opted to block it off indefinitely?  Why don't they just have a police car drive by and check once in a while?  I can only imagine what the field along 51st Ave looks like after a weekend of heavy use.  I believe that PG Parks and Planning manages that field.
I would be interested in seeing what is planned for the CSX bridge, where it would start and end.  Are there any plans circulating that shows how it will look?  I have seen a few drawings that were just speculation but nothing concrete.  I would imaging the bridge would start well passed tuckerman.  If it were up to me I would start it right at the point where you have to make that right turn onto Rivertech Ct from Lafayette Ave.  That would be the lease disruptive.

It is my understanding that it is roped off because to many teams, which did not have permits, were using the field and then leaving it a mess with all their trash and not putting the nets back down.  The residents complained and the town had to clean up the mess from the last team that played on the field.  Now only those who obtain a permit from the town are allowed to use the field. It is my further understanding that the Cafritz CSC overpass and circle will all be behind the berm and not affect the field.  That remains to be seen. Peggy  -----Original Message-----

 Andre- I see you're reminding the list that no one has responded to your earlier question!  Excellent :)  First of all, that's the park known locally as the Field of Dreams.  There's a history to that which you can probably Google, or maybe if one of the town historians is so inclined they can recount the story for us all (it precedes my time here by several years). In any case, as to your question, I have no actual information, only speculation.  Included in a recent town notice on the Cafritz construction, I believe it mentioned that preliminary work was going to begin in preparation for the bridge that's going to be built across the tracks and connect with Rivertech Ct.  IIRC, part of the property on which the Field of Dreams sits is actually owned by the University. As part of the deal that made that bridge possible, the University and the town swapped some land. In any case the road leading up to the bridge (via a roundabout) is going to have to cut into the Field of Dreams property somewhat.   
  The roping off may or may not have something to do with the bridge construction. As I said, speculation on my part...
