*A friend across Route 1 sent the following message. All are welcome.*

*An Opportunity to “Go Solar”*

A presentation about community solar will be made at the Hyattsville
Mennonite Church at 4217 East-West Highway on November 8th at 7:30 pm. The
church is located two blocks west of Route 1.

*Come and hear the specifics about* *this* *alternative to installing solar
panels on your house roof. *

Briefly this is how it will work:

As a result of community solar legislation passed by the Maryland General
Assembly a couple of years ago, Nautilus Solar, a solar developer is
building a large 5 MW solar system on an old closed landfill in southern
Prince George's County near Fort Washington. Neighborhood Sun, a local
solar company is a project partner and tasked with getting up to 900
community subscribers in the Maryland PEPCO service area. People who
choose to become subscribers can claim electricity generated from a certain
number of solar panels in the huge solar array at the landfill.

*No money is required up front.* Instead of paying PEPCO for electric, a
subscriber pays the developer and at a rate that is 5% less the utility's
billing for the same amount of electricity. The contract between the
subscriber and Nautilus is good for five years but can be renewed for
another five years and probably again after that. If you move but stay in
the PEPCO service territory you can take the contract with you to your new
home.

*If you like, you can call me, Dave, for more information at 301-779-3168.*
*Please also invite friends or neighbors who may also be interested in
learning about solar here in Maryland.*

Thanks. Dave Brosch, University Park
