blockquote, div.yahoo_quoted { margin-left: 0 !important; border-left:1px #715FFA solid !important; padding-left:1ex !important; background-color:white !important; } I would like to see our residents think about a better school.  University Park is only a six out of ten.  How about considering something innovative and fun that rates a ten out of ten for Riverdale Park alone?

Yes, you're right. I've since learned that the RP Station kids will be assigned to UP schools.  This second article is very interesting, thanks for sharing.

I believe Riverdale Park Station is within the school boundaries for University Park Elementary.

It doesn't really address your concerns, but it was the most recent news on development fees for schools that I remember seeing:

Forgive me if this has already been brought up, but is there any attention going to the school situation for Riverdale Park?  As I understand it, Riverdale Elementary was overcrowded before the RP Station townhouses went in. Are the kids in those townhouses being assigned to Riverdale Elementary too?  I just keep feeling like developers are cramming townhouses in everywhere they can and I don't hear about any improvements going to the local schools to accommodate new families.  The Elementary, Middle and High schools assigned to RP residents are rated 2 and 3 out of 10 according to Great Schools ratings on Redfin.  Any insight in improving this if all of the new housing and businesses are clearly bringing in money?

Thank you, Sonia, for sharing the Hyattsville Wire article ( https://www.hyattsvillewire.com/2019/01/19/riverdale-park-property-wmata-sale/ ). I had missed this news.
It will be interesting to see what rezoning an eventual buyer may pursue.
Since the site is about a 15 minute walk to the College Park Metro Station, 2 MARC stations, and 2 of the planned Purple Line Stations, hopefully they'll propose something that allows some denser housing options or mixed use.
I hope whatever is built maintains some buffer along Albion Road for the folks in Calvert Hills._______________________________________________
