Plans for Phase II of Riverdale Park Station include a proposal to install
a preserved trolley car as a retail space within a pedestrian plaza, seen

Long-held plans to build hundreds of new apartments at Riverdale Park
Station have taken a major procedural step forward. This past week,
developer Calvin Cafritz Enterprises filed paperwork formally seeking
approval from Prince George’s County planning officials to build 630 units
in two buildings on two lots bordering the CSX rail tracks to the east.
Among the details in the plans: a proposal to install a restored streetcar
as a retail space in a pedestrian plaza, harkening back to the Rhode Island
Avenue corridor’s streetcar legacy.
