A friend across the street in University Park sent this along. All are
welcome.
Saturday, June 8, 5 PM, Church of the Brethren, 4413 Tuckerman Street, UP
MD 20782

Friends,

Katie Monroe, daughter of Reverend Kim McDowell and Don Monroe, will
present on ethnic music/and poetry and its interplay with the contemporary
music scene in China's Yunnan Province. Yunnan, in the far southwest, is
the most ethnically diverse of China's provinces.

As a senior at Middlebury College Katie received a Kellogg grant to do this
research last summer for her final senior project. The year before Katie
spent 8 months in China in Kunming the main city in Yunnan. She graduated
in February this year from Middlebury with a BA in Chinese Language and
Literature. Guided by her experience and the contacts made in the previous
year, Katie traveled around Yunnan interviewing and recording. She has
created a video to accompany her talk.

Katie will begin her presentation at 5 pm this Saturday at the University
Park Church of the Brethren at 4413 Tuckerman Street, University Park MD
20782. There is ample parking. For more information contact Katie at
301-832-8030.

Spread the word about this event. Thanks.
