*Scores of Cider Ride Cyclists Pedal into RPMD Saturday*
 *Town Center Shops Could See Rolling Biz Boon from WABA Riders*

*RIVERDALE PARK, MD., October 31, 2019 *– You may notice more people on
bicycles in Riverdale Park this weekend. The Washington Area Bicyclist
Association’s (WABA) 2019 Cider Ride
<https://waba.org/blog/2019/09/the-cider-ride/> travels through town this
Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019. Annually, 500-700 people participate in the Cider
Ride, one of WABA’s signature rides.

The 2019 Cider Ride highlights many of the great opportunities for cycling
in Prince George's County and offers three options

Apple Route, the 30-mile McIntosh Route, and the 54-mile Honeycrisp Route.
All of the routes start at Dance Place (3225 8th St., NE, Washington, DC
20017)and end a few blocks away at the Dew Drop Inn (2801 8th St., NE,
Washington, DC 20017) in Brookland. The McIntosh and Honey Crisp routes
travel through Riverdale Park. Both routes travel up the Northeast Branch
of the Anacostia Tributary Trail (ATT), through Riverdale Community Park,
and into College Park. The McIntosh Route returns through Riverdale Park
along the Trolley Trail, through Riverdale Park Station and Town Center.
The Honeycrisp Route returns through town along Somerset Road, and passes
by Town Center Market at Lafayette Ave., turning onto the Trolley Trail
near Riviera Tapas Bar, 6108 Rhode Island Ave., before heading toward
Hyattsville.



The Cider Ride provides local businesses with a great opportunity for
outreach to members of the greater metro DC community. Cider Ride
participants largely reside where WABA works (e.g., District of Columbia,
Montgomery County; Prince George’s County; Arlington County; Fairfax
County; and the city of Alexandria). An A-frame sandwich board sign
welcoming riders and alerting them to your business may encourage some
riders to stop for a drink or lunch. Last year, Streetcar 82 put up a sign
and collaborated with Arrow Bicycle to put up a repair stand out front.
They saw a decent number of riders stop to visit the new brewery.
Alternatively, it can be good advertising for participants’ next trip along
the ATT or Trolley Trail, where many people bike to visit local businesses.
