Thanks everyone, for the input. Jeffrey, it now makes sense as to why there are little options available in our municipality. Sarah, Comcast and Xfinity are one in the same.
Version is fast but they’re so darned expensive so I’ve switched to Comcast(Xfinity) for now. Maybe we’ll get other options soon. 🤞

I've wondered about them for a while - and they are cheaper than Verizon's FIOS option. Curious to know if anyone has experience with them.

This has been a topic of chat at the Mount Rainer electronic watering hole for the past week and probably at dozens of similar community meeting points around America as folks seek to reduce household cost at the start I a new year.
I’d also love a good answer. Yorke Partners pays for FiOS at four or more locations, Comcast at two others. That’s turned us into a non-profit working for Big Wire.
RCN, which provides internet in DC, MoCo and other area suburbs, has a significant fiber pipe running under Route 1 and 410 to UMD and beyond. After having several conversations at a Las Vegas cell tower convention in 2015, I encouraged a SVP of the company about proving RPMD and surrounding neighborhoods a third option. He/we discovered that municipal or county hurdles were insurmountable. Both of us were disappointed.
But we could have missed something or the terrain may have changed. I encourage seeking out less expensive internet providers. We all pay too much for it.

Hi everyone,
I’m curious as to what choices of internet are available in our area. My initial search has shown that only Verizon and Comcast are available. Am I incorrect? Apparently hughesnet which is available in DC is not offered in our area. Looking for a good high speed internet that doesn’t up their prices after a year. I’m cutting the cord on cable and getting media online so a reliable, affordable, no-haggle company would be super.
Thanks for any leads and Happy New Year to all.
