Tonight Aug 1, 2006 is the National Night Out Against Crime.

The Riverdale Park Police Department will perform saturation patrols throughout the town, tonight from 7-9 pm.

National Night Out is designed to:
Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

So keep your outdoor lights on and hold a front porch vigil tonight, 7-9 p.m. and get a chance to say hello to our officers.

[ Use this list to get a group up that wants one and let one person make the trip for everyone ].

OBTAIN A FREE SMOKE ALARM

Any resident who needs a smoke alarm can call Prince George's County Fire Department at (301) 864 - SAFE or visit the Fire Department on-line at: www.pgfirems.com

SENIOR TELEPHONE REASSURANCE PROGRAM

Prince George's County offers a Telephone Reassurance Program to place daily reassuring phone calls - Monday through Friday - to homebound and isolated seniors. The goal of the program is to eliminate some of the concerns facing seniors who live alone, thereby assisting them to remain independent. If you know someone who might benefit from this program, or wish to volunteer, call: (301) 699-2797.
