[RP TownTalk] YET MORE on historical significance

Hello Nancy--

Riverdale Park has two National Register historic districts: (1) Riverdale
Park, which is roughly Route 1 east to 49th Avenue/Taylor Road, from Madison
north to Tuckerman on the west side of the tracks, from Oliver Street north
to Tuckerman on the east side; (2) West Riverdale is roughly Route 1 west
to 43rd. Both districts were granted in December 2002, and the town has both
nominations in its files (if not, I still have mine). These could be scanned
and posted to the town's web site, at least.

Riversdale is a National Historic Landmark; in addition, the town has
several National Register sites and County Historic sites, mostly located
within a block of the railroad line and Dumm's Corner/Town Center. I'll bet
that this would be useful to know also.

P.S. Nice to see someone finally picking up the torch! It has been too long.
. . . And who is minding the archives these days? Bet there is lots of stuff
that could be added, if it didn't get tossed.

I hate to suggest things that I have no intention of doing myself. But I
will anyway.

I'm trying to find out more about the Riverdale Park historic district, and
I know I have a lot of stuff at home filed away somewhere. Happened to check
Wikipedia, found a listing of Registered Historic Places in Maryland
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Registered_Historic_Places_in_Maryland
>
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Registered_Historic_Places_in_Maryland.
Of course they list our fair town, but the link says that they have NO
ARTICLE on it! Anybody game to post something?
