I just tried to go to those web sites
and came up they dont exist. I
remember this discussion and
there was not much interest. But
I dont know what went into the
people not being interested.
Sometimes people need to visit &
see successful community centers
- hear about them etc to know if
there is an interest. I think the teen
problems of nothing to do after school
and the senior social needs, place
where people can safely get together
to play cards/board games etc. But
I think we would have to find ways to
involved the local colleges maybe to
help run-involve - help - give ideas -
as students are earning their degrees.
This gives them experience, & helps
us too. Involved high schoolers of our
town to donate time & get experience
in filling community needs, middle
school could join in - the more adults,
kids join in to serve the needs of the
community - it becomes fun and
emotionally rewarding, teaching adult/
kids communicating skills, empathy,
----there has to be some way of bringing
adults, old & young, kids of all school
age together to form a better community
meeting the needs of our special town.
Feeling good about ourselves, building
self esteem. Join in with the scouts etc.
I think Greenbelt does well with their
programs. I go there all the time &
belong to their gym. Emily
