Dear Hopeless Nerd,

I sure hope verizon will provide better service here than my daughter
received in VA. (Yes, nerdeness tech savvy is hereditary) To shorten the
long saga, installation did not go well (4 days off work), she gave up
on the internet connection after 3 months and now is shopping for cable.
Tech support is dismal/nonexistent. On the other hand the phone does
work. Of course, being a workaholic she's never at home to answer it.
Most of her friends gave up during installation.

I understand the internet was like the girl with the curl in the middle
of her forehead - "When she was good she was vary vary good, But when
she was bad she was horrid! My daughter got tired of paying for what she
wasn't getting and verizon agreed they couldn't provide reliable
service. Really sad.

On the other hand I get DSL from my ISP. I let them deal with verizon
(who of course owns all the wires). The difference is that their verizon
bill is MUCH bigger than mine; When they speak someone listens. They can
also test the connection towards me and tell verizon where the signal stops.

There is no reason to call people names Roland. They will turn the
monitor button on if you can't be nice!
