[RP TownTalk] Stolen Car Found

When my van was stolen back in June 2006, I remember there were two or three
other Riverdale Park neighbors who also had cars stolen from their yards
around that same time.    My car was recovered by Fairfax County police in
December from a ban of car thieves who tried to sell it to undercover police
officers.  You may want to check with Fairfax Police about your cars.  Other
than a few extra scratch marks and dents, my beloved Dodge Grand Caravan is
running well.   
 
If you own a Dodge-you are very vulnerable to car thieves.  It seems it is
one of the easiest cars to steal quickly; a five year old could remove the
ignition switch with moderate effort.   I am of the opinion that car dealers
should be penalized if their designs are not properly designed to avoid the
most common and easiest well-documented methods used by car thieves.  Next
car you buy----take a 5-year old along and ask if he/she could help you
figure out how to remove that thing you put the key in (i.e. ignition). If
he/she can easily explain and demonstrate as if they were playing with a
Tinker Toy-I suggest you buy another model.  It's not thief proof.
