I got this announcement from a pal of ours who is the owner of an independent bookstore conveniently located in the College Park shopping center between the now-defunct Wawa and ruler-of-the-universe Starbucks.

It sounds like a good time:

Mary Amato is a great author and will be doing a workshop Wednesday night at the Greenbelt Library. Hope you can join us. She's great for kids who may be reluctant readers. Ages 7 and up should enjoy this event.

Mary Amato writes children's books and is known for her comic middle-grade novels. The Riot Brothers series features fifth-grade Wilbur, his third-grade brother Orville and their humorous exploits. The Washington Post raved: "If you liked Captain Underpants, you should try Snarf Attack, Underfoodle & The Secret Life: The Riot Brothers Tell All." The Naked Mole-Rat Letters stars twelve-year-old Frankie as she sends made up emails when her father begins a long-distance romance with a Washington, D.C. zookeeper. Amato is also a choreographer, puppeteer and educator. She performs and teaches workshops on creative writing and theater in schools and libraries. She is the award-winning author of The Word Eater, Drooling and Dangerous, Please Write in this Book and other titles.
