Hi folks!

This Saturday, August 14, Riversdale House Museum will be hosting British and American War of 1812 soldiers at our annual Battle of Bladensburg encampment. The cannon goes off at noon, followed by lots of family fun! Children might get recruited to the American militia as they learn to march and drill. We've got crafts, period games, dress up activities and much more for the kids. Throughout the afternoon, meander through the camp, chat with reenactors, cool off with some ice cream and other period refreshments courtesy of the Kitchen Guild, and enjoy some lively 19th century entertainment.  Take a peek at the museum shop display on the grounds and visit the shop downstairs for even more fun finds! The house will be open for tours from 12:15 - 2:45pm ($3/adult $2/senior $1/student FREE/4 & under) and the main battle will commence at 3:15pm.  We hope to see you for what will be a great day (and a great weather day, too!)

Don't forget about the August 19 Jazz on the Lawn FREE concert featuring the Buck Hill Quartet or The Art of Cookery Dinner coming up Saturday, August 28! Enjoy a dinner buffet with period dishes created with produce from Riversdale's own gardens and orchard! $30/residents $36/non-residents. Call 301.864.0420 for details!

Belgian Brews & Beverages, Friday, September 10 - Mike Roy, the brew master at Franklin's, will lead guests in a program and tasting featuring his and other beers, including a special brew made from florals and botanicals from Riversdale's garden.

Karen Ashbrook & Paul Oorts in Concert, Sunday, September 19 - Enjoy a concert featuring Flemish music from and about the Napoleonic era on hammered dulcimer, wooden flute, and accordion.

Maman, Papa, et Moi, Friday, September 29 - Children in their PJs will enjoy an evening of Flemish fun with their parents, including a story, snack, and craft.
