Thanks for the update.  As Metrobuses no longer go through the town center since the accident the other year, I'd be glad to use other bus services, free or not.  I've asked some of the county "The Bus" drivers if they know if those buses will ever run on weekends, so far all I've heard is rumors.  I don't drive and it's literally a pain if I have to carry bags from the Metro stops on Route 1 or up by the elementary school.

The update on this is that the Town of RP is pursuing a request to have similar shuttle privileges as were negotiated for College Park. It will take a little while to get into place because it actually requires state legislation, which we don't anticipate being a problem.  College Park pays a fee to UMD based on ridership estimates. We haven't gotten to that point yet, but the cost to CP was pretty modest.

No, I'm a resident of Riverdale Park; seems I'd heard somewhere that there were talks about allowing residents of our town to ride free on the shuttles; wish that were so!  RE Raytheon employees; I think the University has an agreement with some of the local businesses/agencies in that area about their employees being able to use the shuttle to get back and forth to the Metro.  Those particular shuttles run weekdays (as far as I know) and only go up and down River Road.  Don't know if Raytheon pays the University for this privilege or not.
