Maryland Milestones 1st Annual Photo Contest Announced
Hyattsville, Maryland – June 4, 2012 – Anacostia Trails
Heritage Area Inc., home of Maryland Milestones, encourages Washington D.C. Metro residents and visitors to capture the beauty,
history, activities, and character of Northern Prince George’s County for the
2012 Maryland Milestones Photo Contest.  Based on the highly successful photo and calendar contest from the Erie
Canalway National Heritage Corridor, this contest will be a chance for
photographers of all sorts to explore their backyards!
Winning entries will be featured in the 2013 Maryland
Milestones Calendar, which will be released in December/January as well as a
special image gallery on www.marylandmilestones.org.   
The contest categories are “Rivers to Rockets” (History);
“Expression of Arts” (Culture); “Nature of the Area” (Nature); “For the Fun of It” (Recreation). Photographers
can submit up to three images and award levels are first, second or third place
in the four categories or an Honorable Mention.
 
Photos must be taken within the boundaries of the
Anacostia Trails Heritage Area. A map of the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area and
a complete listing of its 14 communities are available online at www.marylandmilestones.org.  Judging takes place within two weeks of the
contest’s deadline and the list of winners will be posted on the organization
website.  All images are kept by
Anacostia Trails Heritage Area Inc. and may be used on the website or in
printed materials produced in the future, with appropriate credit where
possible.
