The weekend forecast is for bright sun, cool breezes, incredible art and a
combination of blues and jazz as the Riverdale Park Arts Council presents
its 6th annual free arts and live music festival in Town Center at the MARC
train station, 4650 Queensbury Road.

ArtsFest2013 on Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm, features nearly three dozen artists,
crafters and authors along with the sweet smooth sounds of the Rodney
Kelley Jazz Experience featuring saxophonist Russell Lyles, electric blues
band, The Smokin’ Polecats, and Riverdale Park’s own jazz-infused,
Americana-marinated, alt-pop foursome, Brulee. Brulee will perform cuts
from its new CD, “To A Crisp.” There will also be a special appearance by
the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation blues trio featuring David
Oziel on guitar, David Jackson on bass, and Howard Moss on harmonica. Sunday’s
program kicks off at 11 am with a performance by the nine-member Parkdale
High Jazz Ensemble led by music director Everett Martin.

The Washington area’s newest and largest jazz and blues venue, Bethesda
Blues and Jazz Club, a major sponsor of this year’s event, has provided
ArtsFest2013 with several sets of tickets to the Great Gatsby Night with
Doc Scantlin on May 9, and Blues guitarist Jimmy Thackery & The Drivers on
May 11 that will be raffled off during the day.

Renowned Smithsonian art curator, Clark Bedford, will present his unique
“art car” as part of ArtFest2013’s Vintage Vehicle show – Riverdale Park’s
World of Wheels, along with Bill Newman’s1951 Ford Panel Truck, and three
of Tono Fotos’ vintage rides, a 1946 Lincoln Continental, a 1949 Lincoln
Continental convertible, and Tony’s stunning 1956 Buick Roadmaster. Patrick
Welch’s 1979 sea green Lincoln Continental will also be parked along
Queensbury Road.

All News WTOP-FM’s David Burd will emcee the day and the station has
provided lots of prizes.
