*Applications for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s summer high
school program, R2L NextGen
<http://www.chci.org/ready_to_lead/page/r2lnextgen>, are now open!*
R2L NextGen is a week-long leadership and civic engagement program for high
school students in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. CHCI will bring 40 Latino
high school students to D.C. to learn about how the federal government
works, meet key leaders, visit historic sites and develop a deeper
understanding of how they can affect positive change in their communities
and their nation.
The program, which will take place *July 26 –31, 2015*, is *completely FREE
of charge* to all selected student participants.
Student must reside in the *District of Columbia; Montgomery or Prince
George’s Counties in Maryland; or Alexandria City or Arlington Counties in
Virginia. *in order to be eligible to apply (detailed eligibility
requirements can be found here
<http://www.chci.org/ready_to_lead/page/r2lnextgen-washington-dc-applicants>).
CHCI has identified only a small number of geographic regions where we are
recruiting students; as such, we have reserved spaces for students
from the *DMV
area.*
Applications are now available online <http://apply.chci.org/> and must be
submitted by *Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:59pm Eastern Time*.
I have attached a program brochure that you can share with the students in
your school/program. You can also download additional recruitment material
from our website
<http://www.chci.org/ready_to_lead/page/r2l-nextgen-recruitment-information>
.
In addition, we will be hosting a series of informational webinars to
answer questions about the program for both students and adults, provide
application assistance, and share information about how you can partner
with CHCI to ensure a student from your program is selected. Please see the
attached webinar schedule for more information and to register.
We would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide in ensuring
that students hear about this exciting opportunity. Please do not hesitate
to contact me if you have any questions!
Best,
Karla
